How to Measure for a Custom Dress Shirt

How to Measure Neck Size
Place tape measure around base of neck. Measure neck as a true natural measurement, without pinching any skin or adding any slack. Add ¼” ease to this measurement.

How to Measure Sleeve Length
Place tape measure at the base of the neck (prominent bone) extending over the shoulder, down the outside of the arm with the arm slightly bent, ending at the wrist joint.

How to Measure Waist Size
Assume a normal stance and place tape measure around the belly, located below the rib cage. For those with a big belly, the tape measure should be placed around the fullest part of the stomach.

How to Measure Chest Size
Place tape measure around the chest at the nipple line, high up under the arms and over the shoulder blades in the back. The tape measure should be snug, so it does not droop down (but not tight).

How to Measure Shirt Length
Place the tape measure under the right front collar leaf, at the intersection of the front shoulder and neck point. Measure down to desired shirt tail length.

How to Measure Yoke
Place tape measure on “top” of the shoulders. Measure from the edge of the left shoulder (A) across to the prominent neck bone, located at the center of the back of the neck (B), continuing to the edge of the right shoulder (C).

How to Measure Wrist
Place the tape measure around the wrist bone and take a true measurement. Do not pinch skin, but do not add anything either. If desired, add ¼” to the wrist you wear a watch on.

Place tape measure around hips going over the fullest part of the buttocks.
Tape should be snug and level.
