Statement Topcoats for Fall

As discussed in a previous post about what’s hot in Menswear for Fall 2015 the coats this season will be a tad over-sized.  Great news if you lost a few lbs. over the summer or if you still have that oversized coat from 5 years ago.

The wider lapel and boxier fit is back.

Once we started seeing these over-sized coats in 3/4 lengths, we began to see another trend, the Statement Topcoat. Fall Fashion has put out some very interesting patterns.

Featuring Falls new color: Burgundy

Leather accents make this acceptable for work or play.

Gorgeous lining and oversized fit.

For a more youthful look, try a playful pattern with Fall colors.

Fly Front Custom Tuxedo Shirt

There are so many options when creating your own custom tuxedo shirt. The go-to style of course is the traditional tuxedo shirt featuring the wing-tip collar and 1/4 or 1/2 inch pleating front shown below. This front style requires studs and stud holes like below.

Not a fan of keeping up with all those studs? One of the newest trends in the more formal weddings are groomsmen choosing the Fly Front style instead. This front style allows the buttons to be hidden (as a “fly” on your pants) so there is no need to use studs. If the front is lifted, there are normal buttons and button holes beneath.  This front style can be used with any collar or cuff style you like when you order with us. Here are some great ideas for a little custom tuxedo shirt inspiration.

Silk Scarves for Men

We love the look of ditching the tie under the suit and going with a nice crisp unbuttoned collar custom dress shirt paired with a silk scarf. It creates such a casual cool look. An easy way to go from office to date night and gain cool points with the ladies.

Let’s get Fall started with some great style inspiration.

Mixed patterns keep it casual

Hate the tie? You can pull this off at the office.

Piling on the layers with a silk scarf beneath. Very dapper.

Different Stripes for Different Types

We are so excited to announce that now our Giorgenti fabrics can be used to design your own custom dress shirt with the newest trend: horizontal striped dress shirts.

Tips for going horizontal:

1-Keep it subtle. Don’t try to mix too many patterns. Stick to the rule of 2. If you have a striped shirt, choose only one other patterned piece.

2-Choose small stripes. Bold stripes can get iffy. I like a nice soft pinstripe or if you want a bolder statement, using a fabric with variations in the size of the stripe like this.

Luxury Olive/White Stripe L207-05K

3-Don’t be afraid of choosing a color stripe. Burgundy and Red stripes are going to be hot this Fall.

Deluxe Maroon/White Stripe M215-118K

Here are the most popular fabrics on our current stock list to turn your wardrobe sideways.

Fall 2015 Bordeaux Based Palettes

Seen all over the Men’s Fall/Winter 2015/2016 Runway were custom dress shirts in shades of burgundy, maroon,  wine, eggplant and plum. Possibly the best thing about these shades is their versatility. Shades of burgundy can be worn with any base color of suit or topcoat. Let’s style our shades of wine based on suit color.

Navy Suit: The blue undertone of a soft plum works well with the classic navy suit.  I prefer a lighter shade of pinot or soft plum custom dress shirt unbuttoned with a navy suit for a bit of a casual look.  If worn with a tie, why not match your tie to a custom dress shirt in this season’s hottest shade? We can help you design one here.

The fur scarf may not be for everyone but is another trend this Fall.

Black Suit: Because a black suit goes with just about everything in your closet, you can really get creative here. If going for a deep eggplant or Bordeaux dress shirt, try a solid black tie for a crisp modern look or have a little more fun with a patterned tie with a dark base color. Here is a nice classic white shirt with another trending fall fashion, the horizontal striped tie.

This classic clean look shows off 2 of this season’s trends.

Charcoal Suit: Why not go a little wild with a plaid charcoal suit? If you have one of these, a plum or wine colored tie will really bring things together. I prefer a classic white custom dress shirt with this look to keep things subtle. If you want to add just another hint of flare, try a small print polka dotted tie.

A smooth way to wear two patterns: plaids and small polka dots.

What other ways can you style this shade into your wardrobe this season? Let us know!

Menswear: Orange and Camel

Two colors to try out this Fall in a custom dress shirt, blazer, topcoat, or trouser are Camel and Burnt Orange.

We like the combination of the orange tie and camel topcoat.

This topcoat falls somewhere in between the two colors. Great option!

On the weekends, keep it casual with a thin sweater and camel coat.

Top 5 Menswear Looks at the 2015 Grammys

We spotted several custom made dress shirts on the red carpet last night underneath those stellar suits. Here are our top 5 picks for Menswear at the Emmys this year.

David Oyelowo

This slim fit double breasted coat gained some stares last night.

Geoffrey Arend

Trying out the Bordeaux color trend on the red carpet was a hit.

John Stamos

Stamos adds a pop of red to this classic tux with a pocket square.

Anthony Anderson and Son

Anthony brings classy to the red carpet while his son’s navy tux with a white lapel adds his modern twist.

Andy Samberg

We loved the textured coat on the host’s tux.

Although Jon Hamm skipped the red carpet, we felt we must add his style to the list. He has always been a leading man in menswear but this year finally took home that Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy we’ve all been waiting for!

A navy tux with the matching bowtie and lapel scored big.

Custom Cuff Size for Stunning Watches

Our custom made dress shirts are completely made to measure, meaning you are able to calculate in the needed circumference of your cuff size to allow for that killer watch you finally bought. We generally recommend adding 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch to the wrist you wear your watch on, however some of these beauties may require more like 1 1/4 allowance.  Check these out and let us know if you need assistance adding the allowance in.

Why not try the Rose Gold Trend?

Or the clean lines of a mid century modern watch?

Or navigate your way through life with this guy.

This masculine time piece will work well in any situation.

Suit It Like Beckham

David Beckham is always dressed to impress. He and wife Victoria have been a style icon-couple since they married.  David seems to grab even more attention when he suits up.  So what is it about his style that women (and men) admire so much?  Let’s take a look.

1. The clean lines. A crisp white shirt like this is so easy to work with. Try a Medium Spread collar if ordering a custom dress shirt, you can reduce the point length by 1/4 or 1/2 inch to create the style he wears here. Try one with us today. Start your order here.

2. He keeps his wardrobe crisp and classic and sticks to what he knows works. The two button coat and medium lapel work well with the medium width of the tie. Keep with a theme if you can: medium spread collar, medium tie width, medium lapel.

3. He doubles up on some classic styles. This double breasted pinstripe suit somehow doesn’t seem like too much with the clean white shirt and standard solid tie.

4. He knows how to suit down as well. He can just as easily throw on a tee under the suit. Some of us cannot pull off the V-neck but a graphic tee is a great place to try this trend.
