Buying a Suit in 2016: Part 3

I know you’ve been waiting with baited breath for the 3rd and final installation of my Buying a Suit Series. Okay, maybe not but I do have one more suit suggestion for you.

If you are investing in a suit this year, why not go for something that packs some serious style punch like a jewel toned suit? Make sure to pair these colorful suits with a classic white dress shirt and perhaps a pewter or gold tie.

Missed out on my prior posts? Part 1 and 2 of this series of Buying a Suit in 2016 can be found here and here!

Olive Green Menswear Style Inspiration

Tired of navy suits, brown tweed sport coats, and camel topcoats? Let’s give Olive Green a shot why don’t we? It can be paired with almost every color as it is now considered a neutral. It looks great with blues of all shades and can be paired with black OR brown.

A light shade of green goes beautifully with denim.
A dapper green blazer would be a great fall addition.
Ever considered an olive suit? Perhaps you should.

How to Create a Dapper Street Style

Street style doesn’t mean you have to be sporting joggers and sneakers. Men with style know that you can create a well put-together and dapper casual look if you follow a few simple rules.

1. Keep one piece dressy. Whether it be a sport coat or a custom dress shirt, as long as one piece is a bit dressier you are on the right track.

2. Layer. Adding different textures and elements can really up your street style game.

3. Play with one trend at a time. Don’t try a shearling coat and a wide leg pant. Pick one and keep the rest neutral. (Although this guy forgot his, you should remember to wear a shirt.)

4. Monochrome. Try to go with shades and colors that are close. This instantly modernizes and dresses things up a bit.

5. Detail it.  Add a detailed belt or topcoat with jeans and a blue button down. Instant swagger.

Style your Own Custom Dress Shirt

Wanting to order a custom dress shirt that will stand out from the rest? Not only do we offer a custom pattern for each of our customers but we can also let you custom design your shirt style. You can even send in a picture by email and ask if a style you see is something we are able to do for you. Here are a few cool shirt designs we found online to get your ideas rolling.

Inner placket detail and white collar band. Notice the collar itself is the same as the shirt.
White placket, collar, band, and cuff. The contrasting black buttons really make this shirt stand out.
Double up on the buttons and increase the space between. Also a button pocket with piping may be an option depending on the color.
I would avoid the white belt and gold necklace but the sport front placket and cuff trim in red is a nice touch.

Contrasting the buttons and button hole stitching is a fine touch.
